About

Passion. Experience. Diligence.

History

I earned my BA in Literature from the University of California in Santa Cruz and was part of the small but prestigious creative writing program.  My emphasis was on poetry. I have been a publishing poet since graduation.

I am also a transcriptionist, scopist, and proofreader for court reporters. My formal training according to NCRA guidelines comes from Transcript Proofreading: Theory and Practice™, an intensive program with rigorous testing. Course completion required proofreading more than 3,000 transcript pages covering a wide variety of topics. Transcripts included hearings, depositions, examinations under oath, interpreted proceedings, and expert testimony.

Working on court transcripts complements my passion for writing poetry.  The technicalities associated with transcripts provide the perfect mental exercise allowing me to catch errors within any type of writing.

You may find work samples and my published poetry in the Portfolio.

I operate my business on the road full-time! With my partner and dog, I live, work, and travel in a converted school bus known as a skoolie. We chase an endless summer all over the world. You can check out our adventures here!

testimonials

I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Guia on my book project. She’s been nothing but professional (yet personable), responsive and very encouraging and throughout a process that is foreign to me. I would unequivocally recommend her for any project she can lend her gifts and talent to and I hope to maintain our working relationship for years to come!
— Dr. Julianna Hynes, Diversity Leadership Development
I have worked with Ms. Nocon on several projects over the years and have always found her to be thorough, decisive, and detail oriented. She has managed to make my words shine on the page when I could not. I can not recommend her enough.
— Joey Adams, Staff Geologist at Environmental Investigation Services

She uses her expert skills to develop and create my resume in timely manner and was in close communication with me to insure it met all my expectations and more. Thank you Guia for a great job well done! Guia gets 5 stars out of 5 from me!

Guia Nocon was exceptionally pleasant, yet professionally critical. Her ability to appreciate the writer’s point of view, coupled with her skill in providing substantive and relevant feedback was refreshing. She was able to identify areas for im- provement as well as to commend the writer for sections that exceeded her expectation. She provided feedback that was timely, relevant and accurate as it pertained to necessary revisions. I would highly recommend Guia to others who are seek- ing assistance with proofreading and/or editing.
— Jaquina Gilbert, memoir edit via Upwork
